Man Utd & Chelsea Consider Swoop for €50m Brazilian

Marquinhos
Manchester United and Chelsea are both eyeing up a possible move for out-of-favour Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, according to the Telegraph.
The highly-rated defender is currently valued at €50 million (£40m) by the French champions, who would prefer to negotiate a swap deal should they decide to sell this summer.
Marquinhos turns 22 next month and Paris Saint-Germain are in no rush to sell their talent.  However, previous reports have claimed the play may want to seek a move away from the French capital this summer due to a lack of regular first-team football.
The Brazilian international has only started 15 of the club’s 33 Ligue 1 games so far this season and six of their 10 UEFA Champions League matches as Laurent Blanc has decided upon Thiago Silva and David Luiz as the preferred centre-back pairing at the Parc des Princes.
This potentially opens up a door to Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea this summer, both in search of a new centre-back.  However, La Liga champions Barcelona are also linked with a move for the centre-back.
Chelsea have previously failed in their bids to sign Everton’s John Stones for a similar fee and could switch their attention to Marquinhos as they go in search of John Terry’s long-term replacement once again this summer.
The Manchester United central defence has looked very shaky this season and Marquinhos would certainly be considered an upgrade should the Red Devils be able to lure the former AS Roma player to Old Trafford.
Paris Saint-Germain have refused to sell their bright prospect in the past but the Telegraph are now reporting that the runaway champions of France may consider a swap deal this summer.
Eden Hazard would be the most obvious name from the Chelsea squad but whether the 2014-15 Premier League champions would let him go is another matter.
PSG were interested in Memphis Depay last summer before he chose Manchester United.  With the Dutch international being a flop in his first season in England it is certainly possible that United would let him go if it meant Marquinhos came the other way.
With the rumours over Marquinhos’ future building up over the past week it will certainly be worth keeping an eye on the news over the coming weeks and months to see where the youngster’s future lies.
